Edd Hargett, General Manager

As ETEC’s General Manager, Edd Hargett oversees all ETEC power supply agreements, both long- and short-term, with various entities. Hargett’s leadership on several ETEC projects has led to the successful addition of new power sources totalling 473 MW for the cooperative.

Hargett has served as General Manager of ETEC since 2005, following his tenure as general manager of Houston County Electric Cooperative. A native of East Texas, Hargett was born in Marietta and graduated from high school in Linden in Cass county.

A proud graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in electrical engineering, Hargett led the Aggies to one of the more unusual Southwest conference championships on record as quarterback of A&M’s 1967 football team. He still holds the all-time record for most total yards gained in one game.

Hargett enjoyed an extensive career in professional football, playing for the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Oilers, as well as the World Football League.

Hargett has long been active in civic life in East Texas, and has served in a variety of volunteer capacities. Currently he serves as an active member of NRECA (National Rural Electric Cooperative Association) and is former board president for TEC (Texas Electric Cooperatives). He and his wife Shirley have three children, all of whom attended Texas A&M University.

M. Ryan Thomas, Chief Financial Officer

A lifelong resident of East Texas hailing from Livingston, Ryan Thomas has extensive financial experience, including having served as controller, financial reporting manager and chief financial officer. His deep East Texas roots have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the region’s energy challenges and issues.

As Chief Financial Officer of ETEC, Thomas coordinates and manages all aspects of the organization’s accounting and financial activities. Since joining ETEC in 2006, he has secured financings of $829 million, which have allowed the cooperative to participate in seven additional sources of power. Thomas has utilized his experience and knowledge to coordinate and negotiate the financial aspects of potential power plant ownership opportunities.

Thomas earned his Master of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University.

He and his wife, Lee Ann have two children, and reside in Nacogdoches. Ryan serves as an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Nacogdoches Rotary Club
